Kanpur Lamborghini crash: Lawyer denies businessman’s son was driving as video, eyewitnesses contradict claim

Kanpur Lamborghini crash developments have taken a new turn as conflicting claims emerge over who was behind the wheel of the luxury car that injured three people in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur. While police maintain that Shivam Mishra, son of tobacco businessman KK Mishra, was driving the Lamborghini at the time of the accident, his lawyer has denied the allegation, insisting that a hired driver was responsible. However, video evidence and eyewitness accounts appear to challenge that version.

The incident occurred on Sunday when a speeding Lamborghini ploughed into multiple vehicles, leaving at least three people injured. More than 24 hours later, no arrests have been made, even as scrutiny intensifies over the handling of the case.

Police say Shivam Mishra was driving

According to police officials, Shivam Mishra was allegedly driving the Lamborghini and was in an inebriated state at the time of the crash. Several eyewitnesses also told investigators that Mishra was pulled out of the vehicle moments after the accident by private bouncers who attempted to remove him from the scene.

Authorities have reiterated that preliminary findings point to Mishra being behind the wheel when the crash occurred.

Lawyer claims hired driver was at the wheel

Mishra’s lawyer, Mrityunjay Singh, has disputed the police version, stating that Shivam was not driving the car.

“Shivam was not driving. His health is fragile. An application has been moved before the court and all proceedings will follow the legal process. The matter will be heard on Tuesday,” Singh said.

The family has also countered police claims of intoxication, alleging that Shivam suffered a seizure while inside the vehicle, which led to the accident.

Medical examination ordered to verify health claims

Amid the competing narratives, police have said that Shivam Mishra will undergo a medical examination to determine whether epilepsy or any other medical condition could have contributed to the crash.

“If the tests show that he was medically unfit to drive, we will examine how he obtained a driving licence,” Commissioner of Police Raghubir Lal said, adding that the role of Regional Transport Office staff would also be scrutinised if necessary.

Video evidence contradicts lawyer’s version

Despite the lawyer’s denial, a video from the crash site has surfaced showing Mishra being dragged out of the Lamborghini Revuelto by a bouncer, supporting eyewitness accounts.

In the footage, a bouncer is seen pulling Mishra out of the car and carrying him away as locals urge others to keep recording the scene. Due to the graphic nature of the visuals, the video has not been released publicly.

Eyewitnesses earlier told police that they gathered around the vehicle after the collision and prevented the bouncers from taking Mishra away. The 26-year-old was later taken to a hospital.

Three injured, no arrests so far

The crash left three people injured autorickshaw driver Tauseef Ahmed and two motorcyclists, Vishal and Sonu Tripathi. While no arrests have been made so far, a Station House Officer has reportedly been removed for allegedly attempting to shield Shivam Mishra.

The investigation into the Kanpur Lamborghini crash remains ongoing as authorities work to reconcile medical reports, video evidence and witness statements.
