Shivam Mishra Arrested in Kanpur Lamborghini Crash That Injured Three

Shivam Mishra has been arrested in connection with the high-speed Lamborghini crash in Kanpur that left three people injured, escalating scrutiny over the incident and the conduct of local police. The 26-year-old son of a prominent tobacco businessman was taken into custody after investigators identified him as the driver of the luxury vehicle involved in Sunday’s accident near Ring Wala Chauraha.

Kanpur Deputy Commissioner of Police Atul Srivastava confirmed the arrest, stating that officers acted swiftly upon receiving information about Mishra’s presence in the city. He will be produced before a court as legal proceedings move forward.

The case has drawn widespread attention due to the high-profile background of the accused and conflicting claims about who was driving at the time of the crash.

High-Speed Crash Near Ring Wala Chauraha

The accident occurred on Sunday when a Lamborghini Revuelto, reportedly linked to tobacco exporter KK Mishra’s firm, allegedly lost control while travelling at high speed. According to police and eyewitness accounts, the car struck an autorickshaw and a stationary motorcycle before mounting the pavement and hitting pedestrians.

Autorickshaw driver Tauseef Ahmed and two motorcycle riders, identified as Vishal and Sonu Tripathi, sustained injuries in the collision.

Police Commissioner Raghubir Lal confirmed that the luxury vehicle has been seized. Authorities said Mishra was pulled out of the car by private security personnel accompanying him.

Investigation and Legal Action

An FIR was initially registered based on a complaint by Tauseef Ahmed against an “unidentified driver” under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita relating to negligent driving, endangering life, and causing hurt by dangerous means.

Following investigation, police added Shivam Mishra’s name to the case after identifying him as the individual behind the wheel.

Officials said medical examinations and forensic tests are underway to determine whether alcohol consumption or a medical condition contributed to the crash. Police are also examining claims that Mishra may suffer from epilepsy or another underlying health issue.

Claims and Counter-Claims

Eyewitnesses described a severe impact, alleging that the motorcycle was hit with such force that the rider was thrown several feet into the air. Some bystanders claimed that security personnel travelling in a separate vehicle broke open the Lamborghini’s window and removed Mishra from the driver’s seat while he was unconscious.

Videos recorded by passersby and circulated on social media appear to show security personnel extracting him from the vehicle.

Amid speculation about possible intoxication, police stated that conclusions will depend on medical and forensic reports.

Mishra’s family has claimed that he suffered a seizure while driving and said he has experienced similar episodes in recent months. However, his lawyer has disputed that he was driving the car, asserting that a chauffeur was at the wheel and that Mishra’s health is fragile. A court application has been filed, and further proceedings are expected.

Police Action and Wider Scrutiny

In a related development, Gwaltoli Station House Officer Santosh Gaur has been removed from his post over alleged negligence and failure to follow due procedure after the crash. The police commissioner said the role of transport authorities would also be examined if medical findings indicate Mishra was medically unfit to drive.

The Mishra family had previously faced scrutiny during Income Tax Department raids in March 2024, when multiple luxury vehicles and cash were seized from premises linked to the business group.

The investigation into the Kanpur Lamborghini crash remains ongoing.
