Suryakumar Yadav Returns to ICC T20I Top 10 as India’s Batting Dominance Continues

India captain Suryakumar Yadav has surged back into the top 10 of the ICC T20I batting rankings, climbing five places to seventh following a string of stellar performances in the ongoing series against New Zealand. His resurgence comes at an ideal moment, just weeks before the T20 World Cup, providing a boost to fans and strengthening India’s batting lineup. Suryakumar’s scores of 32, 82 not out, and 57 not out have demonstrated his renewed confidence and consistency at the crease.

India’s dominance at the top of the rankings remains evident, with Abhishek Sharma retaining the number one spot and Tilak Varma holding third, highlighting the depth of talent as the World Cup approaches.

Ishan Kishan has also made a notable comeback to T20I cricket, re-entering the rankings at 64th after a blistering 76 off 32 balls in Raipur. Other Indian batters have made significant gains, including Shivam Dube, who climbed nine spots to 58th, and Rinku Singh, who jumped 13 places to 68th, emphasizing India’s strength in T20I batting depth.

Afghanistan’s batters also enjoyed upward momentum following their 2-1 series victory over the West Indies in Dubai. Openers Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmanullah Gurbaz rose to 13th and 15th, respectively, while Player of the Series Darwish Rasooli soared 29 places to 87th after amassing 156 runs.

In other movements, South Africa captain Aiden Markram entered the top 20 with an unbeaten 86 against the West Indies. West Indies opener Brandon King and New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips also recorded notable climbs, gaining 15 and 18 places respectively.

Bowling Rankings See Strong Shifts

Several bowlers have made significant strides in the latest ICC T20I rankings. Afghanistan spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman entered the top 10 following a four-for-21 in the second T20I against the West Indies, moving up five places to ninth. Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah climbed four spots to 13th, while leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi jumped 13 places to 19th. South Africa’s Corbin Bosch also achieved a career-high ranking, rising eight positions to 32nd.

Hardik Pandya has made progress across multiple categories for India. His four wickets in three matches propelled him 18 places to 59th in the bowling rankings. He has also advanced to 53rd among batters and moved up one spot to third in the all-rounders’ list, reflecting his growing impact in all departments.
