V Srinivasan death has brought a wave of condolences from political leaders and the sporting fraternity, following the passing of the husband of Indian Olympic Association President and Rajya Sabha MP PT Usha. Srinivasan died in the early hours of Friday after collapsing at his residence.
He was 67 years old. Family members rushed him to a nearby hospital immediately after he collapsed, but doctors were unable to revive him.
Former Central Government Officer
V Srinivasan was a retired Deputy Superintendent of Police with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). He had earlier served as a central government employee and was known to have stood firmly by PT Usha throughout her celebrated athletic career and later during her transition into public life and politics.
PT Usha and Srinivasan were married in 1991. The couple has a son, Ujjwal.
Condolences From National Leaders
Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju expressed his condolences to the family, calling the news deeply saddening.
In a message shared on X (formerly Twitter), Rijiju wrote that his heartfelt condolences were with PT Usha and her family, and prayed for strength during the difficult time.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also spoke to PT Usha on Friday morning and conveyed his condolences over the loss of her husband.
Funeral Details Awaited
As of now, the family has not announced details regarding the funeral or last rites. Further information is expected to be shared by family members in due course.
