Yash Raj Films Denies Paid Promotion Claims Amid Mardaani 3 Missing Girls Controversy

Mardaani 3 missing girls controversy has sparked widespread debate after Delhi Police flagged viral posts about missing children as paid promotions, prompting Yash Raj Films (YRF) to issue a formal denial. The issue emerged days after the release of Mardaani 3, starring Rani Mukerji, with online claims linking real-world missing persons data to the film’s promotional campaign. Authorities and the production house have now responded, seeking to clarify the situation and calm public concern.

Delhi Police Flags Viral Posts as Paid Promotion

The controversy escalated after a citing official Delhi Police data went viral, claiming that 807 people had gone missing in Delhi during the first half of January. The figures triggered alarm across social media platforms, with many users drawing parallels between the data and the plot of Mardaani 3, which revolves around the disappearance of young girls.

On Monday morning, Delhi Police addressed the issue on social media, stating that several posts amplifying fears about missing children were being circulated through paid promotions. The police warned that creating panic for monetary gain would not be tolerated and said strict action would be taken against those involved.

Yash Raj Films Denies Any Involvement

Following the Delhi Police clarification, speculation grew around whether the film’s marketing team was responsible. Yash Raj Films quickly rejected the allegations, distancing itself from any attempt to sensationalise sensitive data.

In an official statement, a YRF spokesperson said the studio, which has operated for over 50 years, is founded on principles of ethics and transparency. The statement strongly denied claims that Mardaani 3’s promotional campaign deliberately amplified or misused information related to missing girls, adding that the company has full faith in authorities to establish the facts.

Police Urge Public Not to Fall for Rumours

A day earlier, Delhi Police had already issued a public advisory urging citizens not to be misled by rumours about a sudden spike in missing children cases. The police reiterated that misrepresentation of data and the spread of fear would invite legal action.

Emphasising child safety, the statement noted that tracing missing persons and reuniting them with families remains a top priority, with police teams working round the clock on such cases.
