Kannada TV actor Kavya Gowda and her husband, Somshekar, were allegedly involved in a violent family dispute in Bengaluru, leaving Somshekar injured and hospitalized. Kavya has broken her silence, revealing threats of rape and murder from certain family members.
Incident Details
The alleged attack took place on January 26 at the couple’s home in Bengaluru. According to police reports, a disagreement between family members escalated into violence, during which Somshekar was reportedly stabbed. He was rushed to a private hospital, where doctors confirmed that his injuries are serious but not life-threatening, and his condition remains stable.
Kavya’s sister, Bhavya Gowda, filed a police complaint at the Ramamurthy Nagar Police Station on her behalf. Authorities indicated that tensions had been brewing within the joint family over household matters and the care of the couple’s young daughter, Siya. Several family members, including Somshekar’s brother, were reportedly involved. Counter-complaints have also been filed, and police investigations are ongoing.
Kavya Gowda Speaks Out
On Tuesday, Kavya Gowda addressed the press, alleging that she and her husband were attacked by Somshekar’s brother Nandish, his wife Prema, her sister Priya, and her father Ravi Kumar. She said the dispute began over a woman named Suma, who was hired to care for their daughter.
Kavya claimed that family members falsely accused Suma of theft and tried to physically harm her daughter during the confrontation. “No mother would accept that. At that moment, I realised this could not be ignored,” she said.
She alleged that Ravi Kumar, Prema, Priya, and Nandish attacked her with sticks, while Ravi Kumar reportedly threatened to rape and kill her, citing political influence. Kavya described the assault as “brutal and involved inappropriate physical aggression” and stated that Priya and Ravi were responsible for stabbing her husband.
“By God’s grace, my husband’s life is not in danger. He is still in the hospital. But my brother-in-law has daughters of his own. How can someone speak like this when he has daughters at home?” Kavya questioned. She also noted that their home is equipped with CCTV cameras and that authorities have access to the footage as part of the investigation.
The case is currently under police investigation, with multiple complaints registered from both sides of the family.
